Descriptio. Valvae elliptico-lanceolatae, extremitatibus late rostellatis, 33.8—35.6 µ longae, 21.5—22.7 µ latae. Valva superior area axili anguste lineari, medio striis radialibus grandibus levibus 10—11 in 10µ, extremitatibus 14—17 in 10 µ donatae. Valva interior area axili lineari, area media transversaliter dilatata, bifurcata. Striae radiales, tenere punctulatae, valvae medio 14—16, in extremitatibus 18-20 in 10 µ.
Habitatio. Mare Nigrum ad insulam Tendra 7 m alt. inter algas, Junio, raro.
Typus in diatomotheca Sectionis cryptogamicae Inst. Bot. Acad. Sci. URSS in Leningrad conservatur.
Observatio. Achnanthes lyrata ab omnibus speciebus cognitis generis valva interiore tigura lyritormi ornata dittert. Valva superior speciei fossilis periodi tertiariae e Ponto, Euxino[Ach.baldjikii (Bright.) CI.].
