Volume and surface area calculation

Shape
Simple shape
K(flattening factor)
More accurate shape -

Hillebrand et al., 1999 - half ellipsoid + cone on elliptic base
(the euglenoid algae are variable in shape and cross-section (Rott 1981). Most Euglena sp. are not round, but flattened in cross-section. Therefore the obtuse pole is calculated as a half ellipsoid, the acute pole as cone with an elliptical base (Siko-Goad et al 1977 propose a similar shape with a cylinder instead of a cone). The smaller and wider diameters have to be measured as well as the height of the cone and the length of the obtuse pole. Some Euglena sp. are so flat that they resemble a flat elliptic prism.)
